I guess squad is a casual ground operations game. The performance is significantly better than arma with an additional 20-30 frames. As Parker said it is quite battlefieldy with the medical and ammunition acting like bf4. And yes it is pvp which might not appeal to most but for the few who dont give a toss and like a bit more challenge, it would be a great experience. Just be prepared for some bullshit from time to time due to randoms wanting to do their own thing. If we play how we play in a couple teams then by all means go for it. It would be a good change from arma for those who are looking for a change of scenery. Plus it could be an opportunity to interest some of the public in tagging along with us.
I can't say much as I have never played the game but witnessed some excellent footage of some who play in a realistic setting. Just wanted to throw something into the pool. I would be up for grabbing it on sale and joining in.
For the GM DLC it gives a new map and new units which is really good and could be used for a few missions. But for someone joining the clan brand new, are they gonna fork out £16 odd just to play a game with people they've just met? There may be some people who've got the DLC but for those who've played the game for only a short amount of time arent gonna have DLCs. The thing with the DLC is as filth says it will divide the commuinty not just on opinion but people who dont have it wont be able to join in operations. Its a great DLC that I would grab on sale but just remember about those who dont want to spend £16 on something we might use only a few times. Again just throwing my ideas into the pool.  (yes i know this is off topic but put it in here since you guys were talking about it)

This was the first major mission I lead in a long time. It was quite exceptional.
    Editing:
The E&E the mission started us off on was extremely challenging and well made. The only point I would make about that is that it should be made very clear that the mosque is under enemy assault from minute one on. Zargabad seemed crawling with nasties. There were fights going on all over the place. We were constantly maneouvered on by enemy forces. Loved it.
The rest offered all the freedom you could want. Mech, motorised, air assault, we could have even gone on foot. A genuine effort was made to provide meaningful tasking for AAC.
Having gone mechanised, I would agree with some opinions that this was on the easy side, as the enemy were unable to bring a credible AT threat to the table.
Disregarding a few minor faults here, I'd call this a 10/10. @PARKER is cranking out the classics one after the other.
    Execution:
The sheer number of people attending was a challenge in itself on one hand, but made us stronger than usual on the other.
E&E put everybody in a very interesting mindset. Months of CQB training with very little effect. Yet one scenario like this and everybody is on top of their game instantly. This resulted in a weird mix of patience and decisive action. We kept our order of march almost throughout this bit of the mission, and any deviation seemed to cause more problems than benefits for us. An odd but enjoyable experience.
Our attempts at air assault failed. Please don't be too hard on @Byleth. He's sticking his head out for us. It is evident he is making progress. We'll get there in the end.
Having lost all air assets capable of transporting an overstrength squad, we were forced to go mechanised. I had wanted to avoid this for a number of reasons: First, I wanted us to work more closely with AAC. Second, mech works best with 9-10 man squads. There was already 12 of us as we arrived at the air field. 1-1 took some time to adjust to this new MO and there was more confusion than I'd have liked. This was natural however considering the circumstances and we overcame this as we assaulted the villa.
From this point onwards, 1-1 steamrolled through the rest of the op. With more players ariving I was able to command from the gunner seat of Bluebell. The whole thing turned into a mechanised power fantasy. This isn't only because of asset selection and balance, since with complicated MOs like mech there is always lots that can go wrong. Crews, FTLs and individuals performed very well. Casualty rates were very low, even for fire teams going into chaotic CQB situations.
Once again not quite happy with the air gameplay. Two main reasons: The absence of an FAC left me to do the comms as a mechanised commander. Impossible. Second, this MO detaches us somewhat from our air callsigns on the whole. We did accomplish some meaningful cooperation though. Intel from @hoofed is always detailed and highly valuable; plenty of CAS made our progress even easier. Being exceedingly strong, we could secure closeby HLSs for Byleth to reinforce, resupply and MEDEVAC us when needed.
    Slightly less than perfect. 9/10

Although lots of people did join, there was very little interaction between GOL players and randoms besides two, one of which I managed to contact outside of the mission.
The main thing I noticed is randoms joining, going to one objective and getting downed, then leaving even though there is a medic literally on top of them. To a certain extent, one must expect this of randoms, but it felt a little disheartening to see GOL members doing the same? Conversely, people don't have to spend their free time lying on the ground listening to the wrong kinds of grunts and groans, but it still feels a little un-GOL-like. That's just my hot take, though. I may be completely wrong
Edit: I've got in contact with both players, and Dan seems much more interested in playing with GOL officially while Lezbo is interested in continuing to play on public nights

I think, but don't take my word. I've noticed the more people that are on the server playing the more public players join, that going for both liberation and antistasi. I guess it means that they have a better chance of doing something since it looks as if the server is populated. Again not to sure but wanted to point that out to yous.

This went alright. I feel a sense of control and leadership could've been better, at the start we had really no clue what we were doing. Through out the night though we were met with heavy counter-attacks, (which were pretty cool I must say, apart from being completely wiped when we rushed an open hill). Can't say much more than, cheers to everyone for putting up with my questionable leadership skills . Also big thanks to @falseprophet @Skeliton and @Filth, for leading the teams. Also thanks to the others that tagged along, you know who you are!

A few public players also joined throughout including Dan who jumped onto the teamspeak with us, @Skeliton I think managed to drop him a steam friend request.

Lastly, Hopefully we can learn from what we did tonight and maybe use these experiences to help next week (if we do antistasi).
Fairly enjoyable evening, although technical problems at the start were annoying, 7/10.
    Thanks for tonight guys!

    Just to note:
This is not a complaint...its an observation. That this clan now lacks barely basic communications in important areas is a crying shame. The ability to know if our own system of updating should/should not be done (especially when i warned of it on Thursday and again early morning on Saturday) is frankly a let down. I may not be a ranked member of any high regard, but i mean well when i try to help.
If this help is not required then p[lease say so, and i wont bother you any more ?
