      ARMA 3 Sync Update   07/14/2018

      ARMA 3 Mods Updated! This update restructures our mod package, previously the mods would get added to either GOLIslandsA3 or GOLAddonsA3 and this resulted in a fairly large mod folder. Before downloading this update it is recommended that you delete your current mods first because A3S doesn't always clean up the old mods. To do this you simply need to head to the location that you downloaded the mods to for example: \Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3 and delete all of the folders that start with @ The benefits of the new structure include: Being able to see what mods we are/aren't running To give you the option of disabling addons that you don't want to run To have the option of adding mods that some may like to run for example: Blastcore To have the option of downloading the mods outside of the GOL Repository for example: Steam workshop or directly from armaholic To have the option of creating campaign specific mod pack presets so users can select the mod set preset and only the mods required for the campaign will be loaded - this will mean better performance. This can be set on the server side so that the preset is made available to everyone for everyone to select.

      An example of this is that we are playing as the Russians against middle-east rebels. Only the mods required for this would need to be loaded and this can be determined by a mod preset - are present there is only one mod preset which is called "ARMA 3 GOL Mod Pack". Another preset can be added called "Battle for the Falklands" for example and then only the mods for this campaign will be loaded. Obviously by only loading the mods for this campaign would mean better load times and performance.

      Keep in mind that as a mission maker that if you save your mission while all of the mods are running then some mods will added themselves as required mods in the mission.sqm meaning that if you try to load the mission again later it will fail because it believes that the required mod is missing. When making the missions only do so with the required mods - if you do mess up then there is the option of opening the mission.sqm in notepad or some other editor and removing the mods from the required mods selection. The download size can be reduced if you choose to manually move the mod files but if you don't have much experience with the mods then please just delete the existing mods and download the mods fresh. Any problems then post a message in the technical support thread and myself and others who can will be happy to help   Download size:  35.44GB

  4. If you’re attending AAC training and wish to either become a reserve airman or full time airman you will need most of the official content.   9. Beware of disabling aircraft mods for this mission seeing as AAC assets will be dropped in at the start of the mission. If you can't see an air vehicle it'll be your problem.
  10. @Byleth I had a quick play around with the UI to try and solve your problem of the Ctab overlapping instruments. Everything fits on screen at 1920x1080 with UI scaling to “Normal” (one size bigger than default). You won’t need both of those sensor displays open at the same time for most flying. Get it done.
  11. Nice to see the P90 added to the base game. Should have happened a long time ago when it was clear most of the community were incapable of download a single mod from the Workshop. Would be a good weapon for pilots to carry. The rest of the update… meh.
  12. I was running it on 16km object view distance with playable frames (25-35). If anything kills frames it’ll be scripting.

  16. Ha, I have that amp. It died on me recently. But I got thousands of hours of use out of it and it took a lot of punishment. It’s a little underpowered for those Beyerdynamics as they’re 250 ohms and the amp maxes out at 150.
  17. @Chroma Sorry for taking so long to get back to this: Take a look at the Beyerdynamic DT 770s. You want the 32 ohm models (linked) if you’re just going to plug it into your PC/phone. But if you’re going to pair them up with a good external DAC/amp then pick the highest ohm model that amp can drive for the best audio fidelity (up to 250 ohms). https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008POFOHM/ As with all headphones they’ll last a long time if you treat them carefully. Models with detachable phone/TRS connectors are vulnerable to damage on the port to the point where you’ll get popping/interference/one channel not working or the cable dropping out easily. The Beyerdynamics have an integrated cable so should be a little more hardy but I’ve seen complete drongos wreck them too by throwing them around or stuffing them into a bag. I couldn’t find any good inexpensive headphones with mini-XLR connectors but they tend to be the toughest detachable cable models as they have a locking mechanism.
  18. Surround sound, as far as headphones/headsets go, is a marketting lie. You’re clamping speakers to your 2.0 ears. Human hearing is poor when it comes to dirrection. Extremely poor. Surround only matters if your position in an environmemt is not known (i.e. a large room with lots of people, spread out, where creating an experience is important: home cinema, theatre etc.). I’ll post more tomorrow when I’m on my PC.
  19. Headsets without a mic are called headphones. Don’t buy gaming brands if you want good audio quality. They’re trash. Never spend more than £40 on those brands. If you want decent audio quality but don’t have £300-400 to spend then go with something safe like a pair of closed-back Sennheisers. A good pair will cost a little over a hundred and you won’t need to buy an external USB DAC/amp. Post your budget and I'll see what I can find.
